A device that clearly falls within the “You’ve Got To Be Frickin’ Kidding Me” (YGTBFKM) category, after all, this is a VERY specific task small appliance. However, for the kitchen gadget/gizmo lover, this is a very affordable and pretty effective gizmo “high”.
The Dream: I, too, can make the perfect Egg McMuffin… but I’ll do it healthily, and for a far more affordable price. I mean, hot, fresh McMuffins? You had me at “McMuffin”. And it can use croissants, mini-panckaes, and bagels, too?! I’m dyin’ here. Take my money, at once.

Now take a close look at that image. That is one seriously Photoshopped picture. There must have been glue involved to get the top half of those English muffins to stick up there like that. The reality of this gadget, solo or dual, really IS better than the image. Read more below.
The Basic Recipe:
Egg, Ham and Cheese Muffin
Ingredients
- 1 English muffin, split
- 1 slice American cheese
- 1 slice Canadian bacon
- 1 large egg, lightly scrambled
Instructions
Preheat Breakfast Sandwich Maker until green PREHEAT light comes on. Lift cover, top ring and cooking plate.
Place bottom half of English muffin, split-side up in bottom ring of Breakfast Sandwich Maker. Top with cheese and Canadian bacon.
Lower cooking plate and top ring. Add egg to cooking plate.
Top with remaining muffin half, split-side down.
Close cover. Cook 4 to 5 minutes.
Slide out cooking plate by rotating handle clockwise. Lift cover and rings; carefully remove sandwich with plastic spatula.
Notes
I am in my early 60’s and I don’t like ham. Never have, never will. Truth be told, I’m a vegetarian, anyway, so not eating ham is no big loss. I’d use a Morningstar Farms sausage or something similar. Check out the recipe links below, as you can go crazy with creativity.

The Reality/Verdict: If you want to say this works well, you could find enough good in this gadget to not be stretching the truth. At the end of about 6 minutes or so you’ll be rewarded with an English muffin egg sandwich that is really pretty good.
The upside is you’ll get a hot egg sandwich, fixed pretty much the way you want it, within minutes. Fresh. Tasty. Done without too much fuss, time or mess.
The downside is by the time the egg is firm enough for me, the underside of that bottom muffin will be somewhat overbaked. I should add I do NOT like a runny egg, so your mileage may vary. Also, you are baking the top English muffin into the eggs. Right into them. That’s fine, just know you can’t overload that egg ring, as there needs to be room for that top half of the muffin.
Be aware that most English Muffins will fit into the rings, but quite a few bagels will not. They are simply too big for the slot. Find a bagel that works and stick with it. And check out that picture up top. There is no way that lid will close down over that bagel. Just be aware. Croissants will work, if trimmed.
Bottom line: I like it. I use it now and then, as it is easier than cooking an egg in a frying pan inside a ring and putting the English muffin in a toaster. Time saved: Only a few minutes, but while this thing is cooking you can read the paper/online news or go brush your teeth. This is a hands-off device once loaded. Cleanup: Wipe clean with a paper towel. Note: DO let this gizmo pre-heat so the raw egg doesn’t poor through the cracks when you pour it into the egg ring.
Grade: B + It makes Mr. GizmoCuisine.com happy, but really, you could do without it. Still… it does work pretty well… so… just get one.

Competition: There really isn’t anything directly like this, one device that cooks an egg, toasts a muffin and melts the cheese. Yes, there is the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Burrito Maker, which does pretty much the same thing, but with a larger egg section and a warmed burrito shell. Or, you could buy something like the Nostalgia 3-in-1 Breakfast Station, but that isn’t really the same thing, is it? It’s more like a regular stove and toaster, in one, yes, but not to the same extent. There are no steps saved here. OK, it’s cool for gadget fanboys/girls, but really, I mean it, it just isn’t the same thing… which means you are free to buy that, too. ???? I’ve alo thrown a few other similar, but NOT the same, gadgets in below.
