Device: Holstein Housewares Arepa Maker. You’ll need to use THIS Arepa recipe, too. I’ve used this with a recipe of spicy prawns stuffed in an arepa, and I am sure pork would work for those who eat it. It works on its own, too. DELICIOUS!
- 1/2 head cabbage, shredded
- 1 large carrot, grated
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Combine the cabbage, carrot, and onion in a bowl. Combine the rest of the ingredients in the bowl and stir heavily to be sure you have the liquiid over the cabbage mixture. Refrigerate overnight.
